An early Western Electric desk stand, likely produced between 1910 and 1915. This model has the distinctive separate, heavier transmitter cup and lug, along with an early-version perch.
Based on its features and patent markings, this set dated to pre-1916, when Western Electric shifted to a combined transmitter cup and lug and redesigned the perch. Notable details include:
**Transmitter Cup Markings**: “PROPERTY OF AMERICAN BELL TELEPHONE COMPANY” and “Patented in USA NOV 17 – 91 NOV 1-92,” with a last patent date in 1908.
**Receiver Markings**: “PAT IN USA PATENT APPLIED FOR DEC 4-1900.”
**Perch Stamping**: The type number on the back of the perch has been stamped over, with a faint “20” visible.
The set retains its original cords, although the mounting cord has been shortened (about 30″ remains), with spade connectors added to allow mounting to a subset. The phone is in working order.
**Condition**: At some point, the set was repainted. Due to the lack of amateur “over-spray,” possibly the repainting was done at a Bell System regional repair or service center.
